Privacy

What we collect

Nothing identifying. HomeStats is a static site served by Netlify. Your browser fetches HTML and JSON. No analytics scripts, no advertising pixels, no Facebook pixel, no Google Analytics, no session recording, no fingerprinting.

Cookies and local storage

HomeStats does not set any cookies. We use one piece of browser local storage on your device:

• hs-theme — remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Stays on your device. Never sent to us.

You can clear it any time in your browser's site-data settings. Disabling it only means HomeStats forgets your theme preference.

Server logs

Netlify, our hosting provider, retains short-lived edge access logs (IP, user-agent, request path) for security and abuse prevention. We do not export, analyze, or store those logs ourselves. See Netlify's privacy policy for their retention schedule.

Third-party content

HomeStats embeds tiles from OpenStreetMap on the map page. When you load that page, your browser requests tile images from tile.openstreetmap.org. See OSM's privacy policy.

External links to data sources (Redfin, FRED, Census, FHFA, BLS, HUD, BEA) open in a new tab and are governed by those publishers' policies.

RSS, JSON Feed, and AI crawlers

We publish open feeds at /feed.xml and /feed.json, and a per-state JSON data layer under /data/. We allow AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, etc.) — see robots.txt and ai.txt.

Children

HomeStats is a general-audience data site and not directed at children under 13. We collect no information from anyone, so we collect none from children.
